Cantina Stefano Rossotto

Cantina Stefano Rossotto

L’Arcimboldo magazine takes its name from the 16th-century painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo, who created his famous “Composite Heads,” paintings that revealed a human figure by combining fruit and vegetables, fish, and food products.

“L’Arcimboldo,” a golden figurine with a modern and stylized shape, created by 3D artist Francesco Conte, an expert in lighting and look development (www.frankwy.com), was created to recognize Artists of Taste, in Italy and abroad. These are those who, through their profession and divided into specific categories, meet the following requirements in the food and wine sector: “Artists of Taste, custodians and ambassadors of ancient arts, capable of narrating history and communicating the culture of their region, looking to the future and keeping pace with the times and trends, with uniqueness and emotional capacity.”

L’Arcimboldo also equates to the symbol of the paintbrush used by artists to create their works.

Cantina Stefano Rossotto Winery has been awarded 3 Pennelli (three points) in the Excellence category in the L’Arcimboldo Guide.

On the border with the Monferrato Astigiano area, the town of Cinzano stands on the Turin hills, overlooking the nearby Piedmont capital, revealing the beauty of its verdant expanses and the austere castle with its large crenellated tower.

A pleasant walk up the hill leads me to the Stefano Rossotto winery; the tranquility of the place and the authentic air of these lands welcome me, along with Matteo Rossotto, to discover his winery and his wines.

Vineyards extend over approximately 10 hectares, distributed across various plots, where, depending on the exposure and soil composition, the vines that best reflect their terroir have been planted.

Freisa, Barbera, Bonarda, Malvasia, and Cortese: grapes that express the terroir and centuries of experience of the Rossotto family in a glass of wine, with uniqueness, strong personality, and elegance.

Genuinely Piedmontese wines that express precisely what Matteo passed on to me: a healthy family tradition, a passion passed down from father to son, where he, as an agricultural technician, tends the vineyard, his brother Federico, the winery’s winemaker, and his father Stefano, supports the company at every stage.

Production amounts to over 40,000 bottles annually, distributed across various styles.

Freisa grapes are the most diverse at the winery, from the basic version to the lively, to the more structured and full-bodied version.

Particularly captivating is their Spumante Brut Rosé “Marchesina,” made from Freisa grapes, a Metodo Classico that requires 36 months of aging on the lees.

It presents a beautiful, intense rosé, with a fine and persistent foam. The aroma recalls yeast and fragrant bread crust, while the elegant fruitiness of small red berries arrives. Fresh, the palate returns with the fruitiness appreciated on the nose and the pleasant yet light tannins of a red grape like Freisa.

Stefano Rossotto, where wines have the flavor of tradition.
